Nick Dunn is a licensed carpenter, who has been involved in building a number of interesting and beautifully designed homes, and has worked with mixed mediums including wood, stone and straw. Working with both owner-builders and builders in Victoria and Queensland, Nick has gained a vast experience of all kinds of building, but has always been drawn to the sustainable ways of building.
"It is far more satisfying to work with non-toxic and renewable materials, and it has always proven to be a far more creative experience for both the builders and the owners."
He has a passion for wanting to keep alive traditional building skills many of which are being lost with the increasing number of pre-fabricated homes and buildings. Before becoming a carpenter Nick worked in Outward Bound Australia taking people out into the bush on extended trips which is where he developed such a strong connection to the environment. At the beginning of next year Nick is attending a cordwood and earth sheltered workshop.
Roger Sheldrick is a licensed carpenter living on the Sunshine Coast. Roger has attended the Huff 'n' Puff intensive workshop on strawbale construction and has been working as a carpenter for the past 15 years.
Roger has long felt a need to go back to basics: "I want to build green and healthy homes, homes that have a soul and a healthy feel to them".
While he has more recently put his skills towards natural and renewable forms of construction, his website rogerthecarpenter.com.au showcases a portfolio of some of his previous works.
